I grew up watching the complete franchise of The Nightmare on Elm Street and I can’t get enough of Fred Krueger. Way back in 1984, Wes Craven has written and directed the first American slasher film “A Nightmare on Elm Street” that gives us nightmares in our dreams. The plot involves teenagers when they fall asleep, Fred Krueger will visit their dreams and kill them, thus causing the deaths into reality. These teenagers are unaware that their parents hold a dark secret from long ago which involves Fred Krueger.
Twenty-six years later, the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise was remade, written by Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer. Directed by Samuel Bayer and produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. The plot almost hits close to the old version but it is more terrifying and more intense to the original. The story is in the present day, Freddy stalks Nancy and her friends in their dreams to terrify and kill them. One by one, Freddy killed them and it is up to Nancy and her remaining friends to get clues and the truth from their parents of what happened long ago. They found out that they were physically and sexually abused by Freddy, before their vengeful parents murdered him. Thus, it is up to Nancy to stop Freddy and end the nightmares.
While I was watching this movie, I can’t help but see the reactions from the movie-goers, they were afraid of Freddy and every time he came out they screamed. I like this movie, it’s really great to watch this, if you love scary movies then I highly recommend this to you. I will give this movie a 4-star rating, those who love scary movies watch this but to those who are faint-hearted, I would not recommend it to you.
